Basalt Stonecrop
Stonecrop is a favorite plant of mine. There are several different varieties of this fleshy-leaved perennial that grow in the Columbia River Gorge, often on ledges and cliffs. In 2008 I captured this Broad-leaf Stonecrop clinging tightly to colorful basalt along Washington's Lewis and Clark Highway (State Route 14).
