On October 4, 2009, the Nature Photographers Network had a Nature Appreciation Day, where photographers would try to capture images of nature all on the same day. This photo was my contribution. After dropping my wife off at the beginning of the Portland Marathon, I dashed back out to the Bells Mountain Trail in Clark County, Washington, to take this photo, and then dashed back into town to meet her at the finish line.
