My path to photography began by birdwatching. By profession I am a veterinarian, but enjoy birding as a hobby.
Not long after purchasing a spotting scope for birdwatching, I stumbled across Ann Cook's digiscoped images of birds,
Birds of Manitoba, and was immediately hooked. In June of 2002, I purchased my first digital camera (a Nikon Coolpix 880) and began trying to digiscope images of birds by holding the camera up to the scope.
Birding is often best in the early morning and late afternoon, when the light happens to be best for other photography. While out birdwatching and digiscoping, I began to take photos of the beautiful scenery around me. This eventually led to more and more landscape photography.
In a never ending quest for better resolution to make large prints, I also began stitching (combining multiple photographs to make one large photograph) using Max Lyon's PTAssembler software.
I have since added a SLR digital camera and am now doing more traditional photography, currently using a Nikon D80.
The images in the galleries are the result of this history, I hope you enjoy the images as much as I have the journey.
